How to treat generation gap?
Generation gap, the word appeared in the late 1960s. Late on, even going to be a common saying, “a generation gap every three years” . Age seems to be a hinder while people communicate with each other. With the age difference bigger and bigger, if it’s harder to find a common topic?
Looking back the history, it’s not hard to discovery some examples to anticipate the existence of generation gap, such as a Chinese proverb “Forgot age exchange”. Then, the relationship between grandparents and grandchild is usually better than the relationship between parents and child in China. To explore the reason, the former one, in the past, popular things had never changed with each passing day like today, so it’s easier to find something common for people to talk about. In the other hand, the younger generation is usually raised by grandparents to grow up so that their ideology is influenced, and their relationship will get closer. My childhood just like that.
Generation gap is natural, but very influential. If we cannot deal with it appropriately, the gap will be greater and consequently affect the relation between the old and the young.
As for me, I’d like to share popular things and my experience with my parents, so that we can have a happier life. In a word, whatever how broad the generation gap is, communication is the key.
