How does the college student develop the basic spirit of Chinese traditional culture
Chinese traditional culture is extensive and profound and there are a myriad of Chinese classic spirits. Every country possesses its own basic spirit of traditional culture. As a consequence, what is the basic spirit of traditional culture?
In the long development of traditional culture, it gradually has its own unique spirit, that is to say, the reflection of basic appearance for specific Chinese value system, the way of thinking, social psychology, ethic concept, aesthetic temperament and interest and so on, which are our nation’s spiritual pillar. It has four various relationships which are between human and society, human, nature, self. I would like to talk the relationship between human and themselves. Namely it is the spirit of relying on ourselves, striving for thing better as well as influencing others but not affecting by others.
On the one hand, we should have strong will. Chinese
nation regards the dragon as its totem, at the same time, strongly advocates the spirit of relying on ourselves, striving for better thing. Under the Confucius’s impact, this kind of spirit has been in every people’s mind and it becomes the faith of self-motivation and spiritual pillar.
In the recent times, because of the decadent and declining rule of feudalism and ravaging aggression of imperialist powers, the Chinese nation led people to a bright future according to its own strong will. Before the half century, Chinese needed peace, consequently we did need some progressive weapons. The serious situation forced Chinese leaders to consider doing scientific research but at that time China was extremely poor. We Chinese people worked out the whole problems by our own continual efforts. From these historic events, we college student should not merely learn from them, but apply them to practice as well. When we meet several difficult situations, what we ought to do is not to give in but to depend on ourselves striving for better future.
On the other hand, we’d better have the life principle that is influencing others rather than being influenced by others.
As the time passed by, China becomes more and more powerful. Although our country is stronger than before, we still need to learn, imitate and blend the western culture. At present, the phenomenon of worshipping everything foreign is pretty widespread causing disaster for our national development. Every Chinese must enhance the confidence to our country. In some ways, we can use the scientific technology, culture and management of western country for reference, but we can’t be entirely influenced by them.
In a word, it is our responsibility to develop the basic spirit of Chinese traditional culture. As the inheritor of Chinese culture, not only should ourselves put them into practice, but also ought to encourage others to obsess these spirits and do it.
