Sebastian Bach was born in Germany on 31 March, 1685. He died on 28 July, 1750. His father, Ambrosius Bach was the director of the town musicians, and all of his uncles were professional musicians. His father taught him to play the violin. During his life, Bach wrote lots of music for the church and his students, but he himself didn’t keep his own works carefully. Luckily, his second wife copied some of them and saved them for him. So today we can still remember Bach through his music.

Bach married twice in his life and had twenty children altogether. He was a man that loved his family very much. When his first wife planned to learn the piano, he wrote two music books for her. And he also wrote music for one of his daughters to tell her that too

much coffee was bad for her health. Do you know what the song was? It was Coffee Cantata. Although Bach’s abilities as an organist(风琴演奏者) were highly respected during his lifetime, he was not widely known as a great composer(作曲家) until the 19th century. He is now generally regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time. And his music has such a great effect on musicians all over the world that he was called the Father of Music. From the first paragraph we know that Sebastian Bach . A. had learnt from his uncle. B. was born in a musician family

Between 5% to 20% of people are left-handed but no one is completely sure how a specific hand influences a person in his life. Although lefties must suffer(遭受) the result of living in a right-handed world, there is something helpful to be a lefty. Because there are only few lefties, it’s easy for a lefty to get on well with another lefty. Lucas Pereira, a left-handed writer, explained that “being left-handed is like being in a secret club. When we meet another lefty, we quickly have something in common.”

5 / 8

Lefties are often more creative than righties. The left hand is controlled by the right hemisphere(半球) of the brain----the side of the brain has something to do with music, art and emotions, so the creative side of lefties is always encouraged. Want to become an athlete? Lefties often have an advantage when playing sports like tennis, baseball and running. The famous tennis player Rafael Nadal is actually right-handed, his uncle trained him to play left-handed so his opponents(对手) would be thrown off guard(措手不及). Lefties are often at a disadvantage at school; it is hard to find left-handed desks, and they often make the paper dirty while writing. That’s because lefties always move their hands over the words which they have just written. In a word, most tools are not made for lefties. It’s not easy for lefties to work in the world. They have to work harder to show that they can do well in something necessary. 56. Why is it easy for a lefty to get on well with other lefties?

A. Because there are many lefties in the world. B. Because lefties feel like staying in a secret club. C. Because lefties can’t be found easily in the world.

57. What does the underlined word “lefty” in the passage mean?

A. 左派的 B. 左撇子 C. 左翼分子 58. According to the third paragraph, a lefty may do better in than a righty.

A. math B. physics C. music 59. Rafael Nadal may agree that .

A. lefties have an advantage when they play tennis B. righties have an advantage when they play tennis C. lefties are the same as righties when they play tennis 60. From the passage we learn that .

A. lefties cannot make a lot of friends B. lefties cannot do well in their work

C. lefties can do something better but they also have trouble in their daily life 第三节 阅读表达(5小题,计10分) Junior high school students in Harbin had a “long weekend”. They had four days off from October 19th to 22nd. It was not for any festival, but was caused by serious smog(烟雾).
