A Dreadful Weekend

This past weekend was absolutely dreadful - one of the worst I've ever experienced. It all started on Friday after school when I missed the bus home. I had stayed late to get some extra help from my math teacher, but I lost track of time. By the time I made it outside, the buses were gone. I didn't have my bike or any money for the city bus, so I had to walk the three miles home. It was scorching hot outside and I was sweating like crazy by the time I finally arrived.

When I got home, I was completely exhausted and famished. I flopped down on the couch, only to realize we were out of snacks. My mom was still at work, so I had to wait for her to get home before I could eat dinner. In the meantime, I flipped through the TV channels but there was nothing good on. I ended up just laying there, bored out of my mind.

Finally, my mom got home around 6pm and she heated up some leftovers for me. As I was scarfing down the reheated

meatloaf, she reminded me that I had a huge homework assignment due on Monday that I hadn't even started. I had totally forgotten about it! So much for relaxing over the weekend. I shoveled down the rest of my food and headed up to my room to get started on the assignment.

It was a massive research paper on the Civil War that was going to take me hours. I struggled through writing the introduction and thesis statement. By around 9pm, I had a throbbing headache from staring at the computer screen so long. My eyes were dried out and bloodshot. I still had so much left to do, but I knew I needed to take a break.

I went downstairs to grab some water and snacks to re-energize myself. That's when I discovered that my little brother had eaten all the chips, cookies, and candy while I was working upstairs. He pulled that kind of annoying stunt all the time, knowing I wouldn't tattle on him. I was furious but also still ravenous, so I just popped some microwave popcorn instead. I refilled my water bottle and headed back up to my room, newly determined to power through the paper. However, my brain was in a total fog at that point and I couldn't seem to formulate a coherent sentence. The words on the screen started

blurring together. I ended up passing out at my desk around midnight with my cheek smashed against the keyboard.

I woke up the next morning to my mom yelling at me that it was already 10am. I had planned to get up early on Saturday to finish the paper, but I slept in way too late. I still had the imprint of the keyboard keys on my face. I gobbled down a quick breakfast and then parked myself back in front of the computer to keep working.

The hours dragged by with me just staring blankly at my document, absorbed in reading source after source on the Civil War but not processing any of it. I took a short break for a peanut butter sandwich around 2pm, but then it was right back to the grind. I guzzled energy drinks to try and stay focused, but I just ended up feeling jittery and on edge.

My eyes were straining to adjust to the bright computer screen in my dim bedroom. My back and neck were getting stiff and sore from being hunched over for so long. At one point, I leaned back to stretch and opened up a papercut on my hand that stung like crazy. And of course, I couldn't find any Band-Aids anywhere.

Around 7pm, I finally finished up the rough draft. I printed it out to proofread, only to run out of ink halfway through. I lost

my mind - after so much effort, I might not even be able to turn the stupid paper in on time! Luckily, my dad had just gotten home from work and he was able to grab a new printer cartridge for me on his way home from grabbing dinner.

I inhaled the fast food and carbonated soda my dad brought home while putting the finishing touches on my paper. By 10pm, I had printed out the final version and put it in my backpack, ready for Monday. At least it was finally done, but I was completely spent. What a colossal waste of a weekend!

I tried to wind down by watching a movie, but I could barely keep my eyes open. I ended up passing out on the couch. The next morning, I woke up around 7am with a crick in my neck. I had drooled all over one of the decorative pillows, which my mom was not happy about. I was running late for church too, so I had to rush around getting ready without even having time to make breakfast.

The church service was three hours long and utterly boring - I could hardly pay attention since I was so exhausted from the night before. My stomach was growling loudly the whole time. After it finally ended, I expected we could go grab brunch, but my parents had other ideas. We went straight from church to my little cousin's birthday party across town.

Of course I was starving, but all they had were veggie trays, fruit kebabs, and other gross healthy snacks. I loaded up on pizza rolls and chicken nuggets instead. My annoying little cousin kept trying to wrestle the food out of my hands. We got into a huge fight and I ended up wearing a plate of ranch dressing. What a disaster!

I spent the whole afternoon at the party trying my best to avoid my aunt, who had been roping me into childish games and activities. I just wanted to go home, take a shower, and go to bed early to recover from the weekend from hell. But no, the second I got back from the party my parents made me mow the lawn since I had ignored that chore all weekend while working on my report.

It was scorching hot again as I trudged through pushing that stupid lawnmower around the whole yard. I was sweating up a storm and got grass stains all over my clothes. Just as I was finishing up, I tripped over a sprinkler head and fell face-first into the mud. My parents didn't even try to hide their amusement as I came slinking inside looking like a sweaty, filthy, exhausted mess. I didn't even get dinner - I just had to go take a shower and get ready for bed to start another crummy week of school the next day.

In short, it was one of the worst weekends I've ever had. Between all the homework, chores, annoying family events, lack of food and sleep, and constant mishaps, it was 48 hours of nonstop stress and misery. I felt like I needed a weekend just to recover from that extremely dreadful weekend! Hopefully, I'll never have another couple of days that torturous again. But knowing my luck, I probably will...

A Terrible Weekend

This past weekend was just about the worst weekend ever. It all started on Friday after school. I was really looking forward to the weekend because my best friend Kyle was supposed to come over and spend the night. We had made all kinds of plans to play video games, eat junk food, and stay up late watching movies. It was going to be an epic weekend of fun!

But when I got home from school on Friday, my mom told me that Kyle's mom had called and said he had to go to his grandma's house instead for the whole weekend. I was so disappointed! Kyle and I had been planning our weekend sleepover for weeks. Without Kyle there, my weekend was ruined before it even started.

Since Kyle couldn't come over, I figured I would just veg out by myself and play video games and watch TV all weekend. But my mom had other ideas. As soon as I turned on the Xbox, she came in and said I needed to go outside and get some fresh air and exercise. She made me go rake up all the leaves in the yard. Raking leaves is literally my least favorite outdoor chore! It took me forever and my arms were super sore by the time I finished. After I raked up all the leaves, my mom made me clean my room, which was also a total mess. I didn't want to clean it at all, but she threatened to take away my video games if I didn't listen. So I spent over an hour cramming things into my closet and under my bed to make my room look clean. It looked okay from the doorway, but if you opened my closet door or looked under my bed, it was a huge mess again. I hate cleaning my room so much!

By the time I finally finished all my chores, it was already getting dark outside. I asked my mom if I could play video games, but she said no because it was almost time for dinner. We had baked chicken and vegetables for dinner, which is the worst. I wish we could just order pizza every night.

After dinner, I asked if I could watch a movie, but my mom said it was too late for a movie and that I needed to get ready for

bed soon. I was so mad! It was only 8 o'clock on a Friday night. My weekend was totally slipping away from me.

I begged my mom to let me stay up a little later since I didn't have school the next day. She finally agreed that I could stay up until 10 o'clock, but only if I took a shower and got all my homework done first. So I had to go do all that instead of relaxing.

By the time I finished my homework and took my shower, it was already 9:30. I only had a half hour left before I had to go to bed. I spent that time playing video games, but that was barely any time at all! Before I knew it, my mom was yelling at me that it was my bedtime. The first day of my weekend was basically a total waste.

I woke up on Saturday morning excited that I could finally spend the whole day doing whatever I wanted since I didn't have any plans. But once again, my mom had other ideas. She woke me up at 8am and said we were all going grocery shopping as a family. My dad had to come too. Grocery shopping is maybe the most boring outing ever. We spent over two hours walking up and down every aisle of the store while my parents argued over what kind of cereal and snacks to buy. It was torturous!

After we got back from the grocery store, my mom made me and my dad mow the entire front and back yard. Mowing the lawn is almost as bad as raking leaves. It was already pretty hot outside by then, so we were sweating like crazy the whole time we were mowing.

Once the yard work was finally done, I asked if I could go to the pool with some friends, but my mom said no because we were going to my uncle's house for the rest of the afternoon. Going over to my uncle's house is okay sometimes, but that day he had his new girlfriend and her kids there too. Her kids were really obnoxious and kept trying to get me to play games with them when I just wanted to be left alone.

We didn't get home from my uncle's house until late, so by then it was pretty much time for bed again. I never even got a chance to play video games or watch TV or anything!

I thought for sure Sunday would be the day I could finally have some fun and do what I wanted, but it turned out to be even worse than Saturday. On Sunday morning, my dad woke me up at 7am and said we were going on a family hike. I hate hiking so much! It's just walking for miles and miles but with nowhere to actually go. My feet were so sore by the time we got done.

After the hike, my dad said we were going to wash all our cars. We spent over an hour washing, drying, and vacuuming out all three of our family cars. My arms were already tired from raking leaves, and then having to scrub the cars made it even worse.

Finally, in the late afternoon once all the outdoor chores and activities were done, I thought I'd have some free time to myself. But then my mom said we were going over to my grandma's house for dinner. Any other time that would have been fine, but I just wanted to stay home and relax after such a long, tiring weekend.

At my grandma's house, my little cousin kept trying to get me to go play outside with him, but I didn't have any energy left. I just laid on the couch and tried to watch TV, but my grandma doesn't have any good channels. All she watches is old game shows and soap operas.

When we finally got home on Sunday night, I was so relieved that the terrible weekend was over. The second I walked in the door, I brushed my teeth and went straight to bed. I was completely exhausted from doing nothing but boring chores and activities all weekend long.

Looking back, I don't think I've ever had a worse weekend in my whole life. I thought for sure it would be two full days of video games, movies, junk food, and hanging out with Kyle. Instead, it was just nonstop yard work, cleaning, grocery shopping, running errands, and other chores that I hate. The whole thing was a nightmare!

Hopefully next weekend will be better. I'm going to beg my parents to let me stay home the whole time and have two full days of pure laziness and fun. I need it after this disastrous weekend. If not, I don't know if I'll survive another horrible weekend like this one!

A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Weekend

Last weekend was honestly one of the worst weekends of my entire life. It seemed like everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. It all started on Friday after school...

I was really excited because my best friend Samantha was having a sleepover party to celebrate her 12th birthday. I had been looking forward to it for weeks! We were going to stay up late watching movies, eat pizza and candy, play games, and do makeovers. It was going to be epic.

When I got home from school, I packed my overnight bag with my pajamas, a change of clothes for the next day, my toothbrush, and of course I picked out the perfect outfits to wear to Samantha's party. I also wrapped up the gift I got her - a stuffed unicorn that I knew she would absolutely love.

Just as I was about to leave for Samantha's house, my little brother Tommy came up to me crying. Apparently he had tried to make ramen noodles in the microwave all by himself, and he ended up spilling the boiling hot water and soup all over the kitchen floor. He had a small burn on his arm from the steaming hot broth too. What a mess!

While my mom was taking care of Tommy and cleaning up the kitchen, I noticed it was starting to rain really hard outside. Not just a little sprinkle, but an absolute downpour. I waited and waited, hoping the rain would let up, but it just kept coming down harder and harder.

My dad had to drive me to Samantha's house in the terrible storm. We could barely see through the windshield with all the rain. When we finally got to her house, I made a run for it and got completely drenched. My hair was soaking wet and my clothes were sticking to me. Not the cute, put-together look I was going for at all!

When I got inside, most of the other guests were already there. Everyone was staring at me because I looked like a wet dog that had been pulled out of a swimming pool. I was so embarrassed, and the party hadn't even really started yet. What a terrible first impression!

A little while later when we were watching a movie, I got a terrible stomachache out of nowhere. My stomach started making really loud gurgling noises and I had to excuse myself and spend a long time in the bathroom. I'm pretty sure it was from eating too much candy, but either way it was not fun at all. After that, we played a game of Truth or Dare. When it was my turn, I got dared to put an ice cube down my shirt. It was freezing cold and I totally screamed out loud. Some of the other girls laughed at me. I couldn't wait for this terrible night to be over.

Finally, around midnight, we all settled into our sleeping bags to try and get some sleep. But literally five minutes later, the tornado siren started going off! We all had to scramble and hide out in Samantha's basement just in case. I was so scared, I felt like I was going to throw up again.

We waited in the basement for what felt like forever, listening to the powerful winds and heavy rain. Luckily the

tornado missed Samantha's neighborhood, but we still had to stay hunkered down until the storm cleared a few hours later. By the time we finally got back upstairs, it was nearly 4am. So much for a fun sleepover full of truth or dare and makeovers! The next morning, I had a massive headache from not getting enough sleep. I called my dad to come pick me up, and when he arrived I saw that his car had a huge crack across the windshield. Apparently a tree branch had blown onto the car during the storm. Just great.

When I got home, I went straight to bed and slept until dinner time. I missed Samantha's birthday party the next day because I was still so exhausted and wiped out from the terrible night before.

Looking back, I can hardly believe how incredibly awful that weekend was. Between the rain and tornado sirens, getting soaked and embarrassed, the stomachache, and bad night of sleep, it was just a total disaster from start to finish. I don't think I've ever been so happy for a weekend to be over! Hopefully this next weekend will be a million times better. But it couldn't possibly be any worse than that one.
