Henan story
In the 19th People’s Congress of the Communist Party of China, President Xi said “we should promote our international communicating capacity, tell the China’s stories well, show a real and prosperous image, improve the country’s soft power”.
As we all know, Henan province is located in the lower reaches of the Yellow River, she is also the center of China. She has a superior geographical environment and She is the most important birthplace of Chinese civilizations. 3000 years ago, Duke of Zhou used an upright pole to measure and found that there was no shadow on the ground at noon in Henan, so he thought this place could be the center of the earth. As a result, the Zhou dynasty was founded here. As the duke thought, Henan has become an important transportation hub for north-south transportation in China. Until now, this place is still very important for China’s social development.
Since the first Xia dynasty was established in Henan, there has been more than 20 dynasties which set their capitals in Henan until the last feudal dynasty of China . This made Henan become political, economic and cultural center at that time. Meanwhile, Henan has also been the cradle of China’s surnames. There are more than 300 surnames today, among which 171 is in Henan. Besides, China’s business culture originated in Shangqiu, Henan province. Wanghai, who was the first man used cattle to freight to the distant places for trade, and he was called “the father of business” .
Henan has a superior geographical position and a good cultural heritage. With the “reform and open-up” policy, the culture of Henan is gradually spreading outward.
