摘要：A revolving cylindrical escapement extrusion apparatus for shaping foodstuffarticles of the type having a nozzle orifice slot and means for feeding foodstuff materialunder pressure for extrusion through this elongated orifice. A cylindrical escapementvalving member revolves adjacent to the downstream side of an adjustable orifice slotand preferably includes at least two axially spaced and circumferentially overlappingopenings in its cylindrical perimeter for shaping foodstuff blanks, and it revolves itsshaping openings in front of the adjustable orifice slot for controlling the extrusion offoodstuff material through the slot to shape the material into product blanks. By virtueof having at least two circumferentially overlapping openings in the revolving cylindricalescapement member there is achieved a continuing flow of the material being extruded.As the escapement member is diminishing the flow rate being shaped by one of itsopenings it is concurrently increasing the flow rate being shaped by another of itsopenings, thereby producing an aggregate flow which continues and in which the flowrate does not unduly surge.
